Position description
Web based GIS developer using C#.net (using Visual Studio) or Java in a SQL backend.

About The Employer
The Emergency Programs Division is responsible for assisting other divisions in meeting their Geographic Information System (GIS) needs. This includes but is not limited to developing web based applications. This position will be responsible for assisting the Information Support Services Director with application development and maintaining server hardware. General duties include: updating servers, collecting user requirements, programming, creating documentation, project management, tracking hours, tracking issues with applications in Jira and other related tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:
Ability to write web based applications in C#.net or ASP.net using Visual Studio. Work experience using Microsoft SQL is required. Must be able to effectively communicate in a technical (IT) environment with end users and management.
PREFERENCES: Familiarity with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS), MS Active Director (AD), MS Windows 2008, Jira (project management software), Subversion (source control software or geographic information systems (software by ESRI) is beneficial but is not required. Any system or hardware administration background is also desired.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree with nine credit hours in programming and one year of experience in business application consulting or development; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
