Minimum Education and Experience: The analyst band requires a foundation of knowledge and skills in area of specialization generally obtained from graduating from a four-year college or university with nine semester hours in programming and one year of experience in business application consulting or development. Experience in the field of work related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Special note: This position may exclusively require a bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the specific functions of the job. Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: This position is being recruited for at the Journey level under the Career Banding program. The hiring range for this position is $39,816-$82,686, and the salary grade equivalent is 76. This position is located in Raleigh, NC.

Preferred Qualifications: Well developed skills in using GIS technology and spatial analysis are required; this person should have a background in geography, statistics, epidemiology, or public health research methodology. This person should demonstrate basic knowledge of map projections, coordinate systems and cartographic techniques using a GIS. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. Organizational ability and attention to detail are essential for this position. Management prefers a degree in geography or public health and extensive experience with a variety of GIS software, especially ESRI suite of products including ArcGIS and ArcServer and extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, Knowledge of HTML, Visual Basic, Coldfusion, and SAS, are a plus.
